The Thursday Dilemma

Every Thursday evening, about this time, I get a bit panicky if I haven’t made my weekend plans yet.  I don’t mean travel plans or party plans, necessarily – I just mean plans.  I like to have an idea of how the weekend will be spent before the weekend actually gets going.  For some reason I think this ‘thought process’ will actually help keep the weekend from ‘getting away from me’ before I have a chance to enjoy it.

I realize this is a control issue but, for now, I’m ok with it.

And anyway…it keeps my weekend from getting away from me!

And after all this talk, I still haven’t come up with any plans but (since you’re here) I’ll share my technique (for deciding) with you.

First of all – the ‘weather’ is a huge factor. So… I usually check out the forecast.  If the weather outlook is good then I may think about places to go with my camera. The high today was 87 degrees.  That’s borderline ‘maybe-I-don’t-want-to-be-outside-in-this-afterall’ weather  but it is supposed to cool off over the weekend. So, I have choices.

The next thing I consider is whether there is anything pressing that needs to be done around the house – like chores and stuff.  I know this should be the ‘first’ thing on the list – but it’s just not.  Usually I will make a list of the things that I ‘need’ to do and, after ‘careful consideration’, will decide whether I’d rather do something else.

And that takes me to my next step. Deciding whether I’d like to spend the weekend playing or whether I’d like to spend the weekend playing and then feel guilty afterwards.

So, you see my dilemma.

Hope you have a great weekend – whatever your plans are!

  1. Go play – my mother use to be such a fanatic about her house – she would stay home all weekend cleaning rather than go out and you know what – not one person at her funeral said anything about how clean her house was!

    Thank you for that!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend as well!
