Art du Jour

I take a lot of photos.

Because I’m always looking at things in a photographic way.

Its hard for me NOT to take photos.

And a scene doesn’t always have to look photo-worthy to be photo-worthy; in fact, the majority of the things I photograph fall into that category.

I get a lot of strange looks when I’m shooting.

Here are a couple of examples.

These were taken while driving through a car wash.  As you can see – they’re not necessarily anything exceptional but I thought they had potential.

And by potential – I mean – there’s a possibility they could be manipulated into something else.

Something completely else.

And since I’ve been playing around with acrylics lately, I couldn’t help but be inspired by the abstract quality of the manipulated images.

A photo opportunity doesn’t necessarily have to end as a photograph.  It can be inspiration for so many other things…

It can simply be the jumping off point.

  1. Love these! While I was at Cabrillo College for the Experimental Encaustic Class, there was an instructor there teaching a photography class for apps. Some of the work was out of this world. Dan Burkholder was the instructor. Check him out!!! Xerox
