“You Reading This, Be Ready”
“Starting here, what do you want to remember?
How sunlight creeps along a shining floor?
What scent of old wood hovers, what softened
sound from outside fills the air?
Will you ever bring a better gift for the world
than the breathing respect that you carry
wherever you go right now? Are you waiting
for time to show you some better thoughts?
When you turn around, starting here, lift this
new glimpse that you found; carry into evening
all that you want from this day. This interval you spent
reading or hearing this, keep it for life.
What can anyone give you greater than now,
starting here, right in this room, when you turn around?”
– William Stafford
I took this image a few years ago.
Its a ‘space’ I created with foam core, tape and dollhouse furniture.
If I let my mind wander a bit, I can almost imagine its a room in the Olson House in Cushing, Maine.
Hi! I love this image and was wondering if I might be able to use it in a hand-out for a university event we’re hosting. The event is free, so no money would be received or given in exchange for anyone attending or participating. Please contact me at . Thank you!
Hi! I’m glad you like the image! Thank you! I will have to see if I can locate it in my stash of images…unfortunately I’m not that great at file management 😐. When did you need it? Lee
